Photo Tours of Summit Lodge

he Summit Saints

For almost 40 years, Saint Bernards have graced our grounds and our lives.

Each had his or her own unique markings and personality, which is partly what made them so special. Meet our wonderful Saints of the Summit Lodge.

St. Bernard Henry
Henry
A new companion for Heidi, he was a regal animal who reigned over the Summit for nine years. An avid hiker, Henry enjoyed long walks on the wooded trails, chasing “chippies” along the way.
St. Bernard Maxell
Maxwell
Arrived from North Dakota to replace Casey and serve as companion to Heidi. Though he only lived to be six, Maxwell is immortalized at the Summit in the restaurant that bears his name.
St. Bernard Heidi
Heidi
Arrived in the summer of 1987 as a new companion for Casey. These two were famous for raiding the manager’s cocktail parties, begging for handouts from guests.
St. Bernard Casey
Casey
Schatzie’s new companion after Schaefer. The two of them perfected the tradition of lying on the rug in front of the front desk constituting their own petting zoo.
